After a year in which The Shield dominated WWE programming it seems as though the stress is finally starting to get them as they start out the final RAW of 2013. With CM Punk declaring them the face of the WWE over the past year, he all but calls the trio out and they respond in a heartbeat, Ambrose leading the charge and seemingly in the baddest of bad moods as he heads to the ring to face his Waterloo – the man he seemingly can’t beat, CM Punk. Ambrose instantly gets in Punks face when he declares he wants to face the best of The Shield. Stating he’ll beat Punk right here and now no questions asked, but unfortunately for moody Dean, Punk all but laughs in his face. Telling him he’s already beaten him more times than he can count he knows who the ‘weak link’ is and wants to face the real best of The Shield.

This sends Dean in to a fury and he has to be held back by Reigns, however its Rollins that steps up and says he’s the best, he’ll face Punk. At this, Roman steps in, taking exception and Punk agrees, all the talk and hype seems to be about Roman Reigns these days therefore he must be the best member of The Shield. Rollins and Ambrose both disagree, leading to a full on bickerfest between the trip that Punk gleefully sits back and watches, until Maddox comes out and declares Punk will indeed face Rollins.

A further enraged Dean seethes quietly, while Roman huffs and puffs his way out of the ring. The two staying ringside as Seth takes on Punk. Another fast and furious match up however outside the ring, the real dramas happening as Ambrose works himself in to a worse and worse mood. Pacing, chewing his nails, kicking things and looking increasingly tormented by the fact he hasn’t been able to beat Punk and now he’s been called the weak link. He takes every opportunity he can to get in Punks face, including a vital and accidental distraction of the referee, costing Seth a pin attempt. As the Trio again begin to argue and a clearly frustrated and antsy Ambrose kicks the announce table and paces, Punk takes his chance and tosses Rollins over the ropes in to them. All three a crumpled heap on the floor. Rollins picks himself up but it’s all too much, Punk scoops him up in the GTS and it’s game over.

Roman returns to the ring to pick up Seth, but Ambrose stays outside, crouching against the barrier and rocking while chewing the skin from his fingers. Uh oh, we think he’s about to snap.

The Shield continued a trend of entering in badass vehicles and emerged straight from a Tank on this WWE.com exclusive match. Taking on The Usos and Rey Mysterio in a high flying extravaganza. Dean dominated much of the match and the B Team struggled against their offense, however the tactical trio were eventually thwarted by Mysterio (well hes small and impossible to catch) when he took to the air and pinned Rollins. Boo, hiss.

It’s a busy busy Christmas eve and I’ve been stuck wrapping gifts and making food, so heres a quick WWE.com rundown of events! Happy Christmas!

If anyone can break The Shield, it’s two strongmen and The Best in the World. Yet, while the all-star trio of John Cena, CM Punk & Big E Langston didn’t hand The Hounds of Justice a Christmas loss per se — The Shield are still too tough to take out quite so easily — they left the men in black frostbit all the same. It was momentarily touch-and-go for Cena & Co. after strong start by the Cenation leader was undone by Roman Reigns, who initiated the numbers game against the 11-time WWE Champion. Punk similarly struggled with The Hounds’ strategy, and the X-factor turned out to ultimately be Big E.

Summoned by Punk when all seemed lost, Langston thundered through the ranks of The Shield and — with assistance from his teammates — struck United States Champion Dean Ambrose with the Big Ending, but The Hounds swarmed the three-count and stopped the bout via disqualifcation. The three villains set Langston up for a Triple Powerbomb that would send him to the South Pole, yet Cena and Punk were having none of it, dragging Reigns through the ropes and capitalizing on a Langston double-clothesline to Ambrose & Rollins with an Attitude Adjustment-Go to Sleep combo to end the holiday season on a high note.

And hey, Santa didn’t get run over this year. It truly is a Christmas miracle.

Early on on Smackdown as John Cena, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan argue about who is the ‘Face’ of the WWE, The Shield decide to throw their caps in to the mix and interrupt, heading on down to the ring which Randy Orton slithers out of leaving Bryan and Cena alone to face the trio. But as Ambrose and co reach the barriers, it’s CM Punk to the rescue! Racing down to the ring and immediately getting in Dean’s face, threats yelled as Vickie Guerrero comes out and makes the Main Event Match. A 6 Man Tag featuring The Shield against Bryan, Cena and Punk. However, things wouldn’t work out that way as Daniel Bryan is assaulted backstage by The Wyatt family before the Main Event can roll around, something that highly amuses The Shield. Leaving Cena and Punk to face them in a handicap.

Obviously with the numbers game working in The Shields advantage, they end up controlling much of the match up, isolating Cena in their corner and going to town on him until an eventual mistake by Rollins sees Cena able to make the gutsy tag to Punk. Punk comes in guns blazing and the match breaks down in to mayhem with bodies flying everywhere until eventually the Referee has no choice but to DQ The Shield as they gang up 3 on Punk.

Cena attempts a valiant rescue but eats a Spear from Reigns, then a Triple Powerbomb from the group. An enraged Punk attacks them recklessly but is soon subdued by the trio, looking to be facing the same fate until Big E Langston runs down to the ring for the save! A momentary stare down between Reigns and Langston is thwarted as Punk returns with a steel chair and Rollins and Ambrose tug Reigns from the ring. Better to pick their battles. Wise as always.

After the disaster that was TLC, there was much speculation that The Shield would not be on the same page for Monday Night RAW. Many expected the much talked about ‘cracks’ to be showing in full force, with blame being hurled left and right. But that wasn’t to be the case, instead The Shield walked in to battle against CM Punk and The Usos once again a united front. Well accidents happen, don’t they. Brothers forgive each other and they move on.

That being said, they were determined not to pick up another loss to Punk and went to war, dominating The Usos throughout the match and once again on the same page. A hot tag to Punk upped the ante and Ambrose once again found himself on the receiving end of Punks whirlwind offense, but this time Roman saved the day and broke up a pin attempt. The Usos attempted to take Roman out and the action spilled to the outside while Ambrose fought it out with Punk, a blind tag to Roman was Punk’s undoing as he hit Ambrose with the GTS but didn’t see the deadly spear coming. Roman picking up the win for the team. The Shield leaving once again united.. and a bit bruised and bloody.

After suffering defeat at the hands of CM Punk on RAW, Ambrose joined Rollins and Reigns heading in to battle with The Usos on Smackdown, taking up his seat on commentary to cast his eye over the match. As war raged inside the ring, Ambrose addressed the ‘fractures’ in The Shield shown on Monday as he ordered Reigns and Rollins to leave ringside when they didn’t help him. He simply puts it down to the three of them being so passionate about the business that sometimes tempers flare, nothing more, nothing less. He continues to call Rollins and Reigns his best friends and his brothers and if you’re looking for cracks and dissension – you might as well be looking for the Loch Ness Monster.

Well Dean, a lot of people do swear Nessie exists!

Rollins and Reigns pick up a mocking victory as Rollins sets up one of The Usos for CM Punk’s GTS, only to drop him directly in to a spear from Reigns. Ambrose tells JBL and Cole that on Sunday at TLC, they’ll make Punk Believe in the Shield just like everybody else. With that he leaves and joins his cohorts in the ring, standing victorious over the Usos, only to be interrupted by CM Punk on the Titantron. Broadcasting from one of the locations we usually see the Shield show up in. A dank, dirty basement. Punk tells them he knows he’s headed in to a slaughter on Sunday, but he’s taking as many members of The Shield as he can with him. He’s exposed their weakness by defeating Dean twice – he’ll do it again on Sunday.

Weakness?! Oh hell no..

The Shield stunned the world tonight but not with Slammy wins or in ring action, but instead by coming out to present a Slammy award… in suits. The internet exploded and I have no idea who won. Ambrose however declared that yes, he looked good, and proceeded to talk over Roman as he tried to present the award. Another not so happy look from his Shield brothers. It was also announced that Ambrose would get another shot at CM Punk later in the night.

Fast Forward to the match of the night and Rollins and Reigns accompanied Ambrose to the ring – an unusual occurrence in Deans singles matches – but Dean did tell them that he could handle it by himself and they weren’t to get involved. Ambrose got in the ring and quickly took it to CM Punk, the pair evenly matched and seemingly knowing one another well already, it seemed to be a stalemate until Ambrose targeted Punk’s injured ribs. Once he had that locked, it was all Ambrose. Dominating Punk and relentlessly assaulting his damaged midsection, however Punk refused to stay down, kicking out of all pin attempts and fighting back desperately where he could. Earning themselves ‘This is Awesome’ chants from the crowd in the process after several last second kick outs. So much so, Ambrose needed a breather, tossing Punk to the outside and distracting the referee so that Rollins and Reigns could put the finish on Punk.

But they did nothing, instead they stood and watched. Ambrose joined them on the outside and got in Rollins face, asking him what the hell he was doing and why he wasn’t helping. He turned to come face to face with Reigns who informs him he wanted to do it by himself. Dean yells at his Shield cohorts, telling them fine, if thats how they wanted to be he could handle it and they should just leave. Rollins and Reigns dismiss him and stalk away as Ambrose gets back in the ring, walking straight in to a roundhouse kick from Punk! Ambrose kicks out of the pin though and is lifted by Punk to a GTS, but Ambrose wriggles out again as Rollins and Reigns head up the ramp. Ambrose goes for his Headlock Driver but Punk pushes out of it and catches him in the GTS, this time he hits it and its Goodnight Sweet Prince. Punk picking up the win – oh dear.

Rollins and Reigns return to the ring and while Rollins drags Ambrose from it, Reigns spears Punk in half. The Shield leaving as a trio, but clearly cracked.

After a few weeks of looking like they’re back on the same page, the cracks in The Shield seem to re-emerge on tonights Smackdown as all three members vie for a chance to face CM Punk one on one before their big match at TLC. A promo early in the show sees Reigns declare that the member of The Shield to face Punk has to be the thoroughbred, the most ruthless, aggressive, able to get the job done member of the team. So naturally Dean steps up and nominates himself – well I’m not about to disagree with him. Reigns and Rollins however, look less than convinced.

That being said, Ambrose heads in to face Punk one on one and he’s left to his own devices by his Shield cohorts. Leaving him at the top of the stairs to go it alone. Ambrose enters the ring cocky and telling and Punk it wont take all three members of The Shield to take him down, it’ll just take one. Him. The match gets underway and as wily a veteran as Punk is, Ambrose seems to have his number. Spotting Punk’s deadly kicks coming and avoiding them easily, leaving Punk a little frustrated and Dean with a smirking grin on his face. They take things down to the mat and Ambrose is in control, taking full advantage of Punk’s hurting ribs with a series of arm bars, crushing Punk’s midsection with his own body. Punk refuses to stay down though and fights back with all he has, however Ambrose continually targets those ribs and keeps taking the advantage back.

It seems as though Punk wont be able to outwit the smartest member of The Shield, until one small mistake costs Dean dearly and he doesn’t see the roundhouse kick coming. A second later, Dean’s hit with the GTS.. it’s game over.

Rollins and Reigns are not going to be happy.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Birthday surprise to get ready.

Should be back to my home made write ups next week, that dark real life getting in the way! In the mean time, heres a shiny WWE.com write up for you.

It may have been a while since CM Punk dropped a pipe bomb, but that doesn’t mean the scruffy savior of The Second City has lost his particular touch for poking the corporate hornet’s nest. In fact, Punk arrived in the Boomer Sooner State with a proverbial bang in the form of a verbal assault on The Authority for their supposed involvement in The Shield’s attack the previous week (retribution, Punk said, for his off-the-cuff insult toward Triple H). While Stephanie McMahon and Kane took issue with the accusation that they had ordered such a strike, they did come up with an on-the-spot ruling in the name of business when The Hounds of Justice emerged – to the apparent surprise of everyone – for yet another go at the former WWE Champion: A 3-on-1 Handicap Match between Punk and The Shield at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs.

The Shield made their first statement before facing CM Punk at WWE TLC, knocking off The Rhodes Brothers & Big Show in a tremendous Six-Man Tag Match on Raw, though the win was hard-fought by any measure. The Hounds found themselves in the doghouse early on thanks to a tremendous start from Big Show; it took an impeccably-timed strike to Cody Rhodes’ arm by Dean Ambrose to give The Shield their first advantage of the bout.

With Cody one-armed and isolated, The Shield gained control until Show tagged back in, though The Shield’s teamwork instinct kicked in and Ambrose stopped the giant short by sending him over the top rope, making Show the second victim of the numbers game. A chokeslam to Roman Reigns opened the door for Goldust, but The Bizarre One’s innovative attempt to superplex an interfering Ambrose onto a prone Seth Rollins backfired when Rollins – the legal man – dodged the move and rolled up Goldust for the win.
