After the tragic loss of the Tag Team Championships from The Shields title collection, Dean Ambrose faced stiff odds heading in to Main Event and a WWE Poll that revealed the ‘Universe’ thought his United States Championship was in serious jeopardy too. Well he’s always been one to defy the odds if you’ve followed his career, tonight would be no different. He heads to the ring like a lone wolf, his Shield cohorts Rollins and Reigns mysteriously absent and not accompanying him on to the stairs like they normally do. Ambrose remained cocky and defiant however, stepping in to the ring and getting in Dolph Zigglers face. Dolph was quick off the bat and instantly hit Ambrose with a dropkick and made a pin attempt which a stunned Dean barely kicked out of. Another pin attempt from Dolph and Ambrose was officially annoyed. Taking the ‘Show Off’ down to the mat and down to his level, Ambrose controlled the pace and grounded Dolph for the first half of the match, but things would soon spiral out of control as both men tore in to each other for the gold. A series of near misses brought Dolph so close to the Championship he and everybody in the crowd could probably taste it, but even with a ‘Famouser’.. Ambrose wasn’t to be counted out.

In the end – and with no help whatsoever from Rollins and Reigns who remained nowhere to be seen, hmm – Ambrose was able to hit Ziggler with his Headlock Driver and retain his United States Championship. Now the only gold holder in The Shield, his cohorts didn’t even come out to celebrate with him. Is this a sign of discontent within the unit? Or are Rollins and Reigns too busy licking their wounds?

Or maybe that’s just what they want you to think.

It’s announced early in the night on RAW that Rollins and Reigns would be defending their Tag Team Championships against Cody Rhodes and Goldust in the shows main event. Later on in the night we’re taken to backstage to find The Shield in strategy talks over their match, only to be confronted by Stephanie and Triple H who inform them the match will be no disqualification – it’s time to get the job done without any excuses. Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins laugh this off, they got this one in the bag. Or do they?

The match is fast paced and vicious from the outset and despite the odd small interjection by Ambrose, for the most part he keeps to himself on the outside and just cheers on his partners. His faith in the team showing through. Rollins and Reigns isolate Cody and toy with him in their corner but eventually Cody is able to make a flying leap to his brother and get the tag. Goldust comes in all guns blazing and proves to be more than Rollins and Reigns bargained for, until a well timed dodge from Rollins sends Goldust crashing to the outside. Ambrose stands over him and taunts before Cody comes to his aid and the show heads to a commercial. Back from that and The Shield once again have control of Goldust, but things soon begin to break down as tempers flare after numerous near falls.

Pure mayhem ensues as Cody and Rollins fight on the outside and Ambrose brawls with Goldust, eventually finding himself tossed to the outside, Reigns goes after Goldust again and things collapse to the outside. Ambrose draws Goldusts attention and with him distracted, Reigns charges and spears him through the barricade! It looks like it’s game over for the Rhodes boys until the sudden arrival of the fired Big Show through the crowd! Ambrose grabs a chair and attempts to stave off the giant but finds himself knocked out. Rollins flies over the ropes and straight in to a KO punch. Reigns in the ring dodges a kick from Cody but ends up with Big Shows fist in his face also! Staggering back, reigns flops to the mat unconscious and Cody makes the pin. New Tag Team Champions.

The Shield taste their bitterest defeat yet as Big Show bolts through the crowd and Triple H storms down to the ring, furious. With Ambrose defending his title on Wednesday, will he suffer the same fate? Dark times for the Hounds of Justice indeed.

SmackDown’s 4-on-1 Handicap Match main event descended into chaos when all three members of The Shield joined Randy Orton in swarming The World’s Largest Athlete. The match ended in a Disqualification win for Big Show when Dean Ambrose brought a chair to the fight. Though the giant was able to deliver a KO Punch and remove it from Ambrose’s clutches, a Roman Reigns spear finally brought him down.

The Shield and Orton refused to cease their relentless assault after the bell, though, until The Usos emerged from the back to even the odds! And when The Viper set up a chair on the downed giant’s head, looking to do further damage, Daniel Bryan flew down the ramp and took the Friday night fight to Orton, snapping in the “Yes!” Lock before Ambrose could open the door for The Viper to slither away.

But a running knee to the U.S. Champion’s head put down the leader of The Shield and sent all four opposing Superstars fleeing from the ring. Will Daniel Bryan have the same kind of success at WWE Battleground?

After the Rhodes brothers attacked The Shield last week on RAW, retribution was definitely on the cards. As Dusty, Cody and Goldust gathered in the ring to hear what Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had to say, a match was laid out for Battleground. If Goldust and Cody could defeat Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at the Pay Per View, they could have their jobs back! A lofty task as The Shield remain undefeated at Pay Per View events. The Rhodes were left to think about this as Triple H and Stephanie cleared out of the ring, but as they went to leave themselves, The Shield struck. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns assaulting the legend Dusty Rhodes and his two sons viciously, eventually hitting Cody with the Triple Powerbomb and taunting Dusty.

Later on in the night the trio marched in to battle against Dolph Ziggler and The Usos in another 6 Man Tag, a fast paced match from the outset that saw most of Dean’s action take place in the commercial (you can view the video in an earlier post!). Dean and Ziggler started things out, the grudge still strong between them as Ambrose took control early on, but Ziggler fought back, pummeling Ambrose’ face with fists and sending him in to a retreat. Rollins tagged in sent Ziggler running for help and an Uso was thrown in to the mix, The Shield went on to isolate Jimmy Uso in their usual fashion, the pack of dogs seemed to have it in the bag until an eventual out of nowhere backdrop to Rollins gave Jimmy the chance to make the tag to Ziggler. Ziggler itching to get his hands on Ambrose tore in like a wild thing and took it to Ambrose, eventually hitting him with the Famouser and coming so close to a three count only for Reigns to save it. Mayhem broke out and after Ziggler hit Rollins with a Zig Zag, Roman Reigns speared Ziggler out of his boots, giving The Shield yet another win in their log book.

After their massive victory against Kane, Daniel Bryan and The legendary Undertaker on Monday Night RAW The Shield smell blood in the water as they stalk on to Smackdown (A show that Owner Jen.. ie: me, attended, see Gallery for 100+ candids) and once again make a target of the Deadman. Cutting a promo early in the night Dean Ambrose declares that despite the victory he’s still not satisfied, something doesn’t feel right. The problem is the Deadman’s still walking, something he plans to rectify tonight as he takes on The Undertaker one on one in his first WWE singles match since The Shields debut. The Shield haven’t made much of a habit of singles matches as yet, the last being Rollins facing the Big Show which ended in the inevitable DQ. But Dean promises tonight he’ll do what nobody else has managed to do in 21 Wrestlemanias and that’s take out the Phenom. Strong words, but if anybody can do it…

As the match draws around The Undertaker is more than ready for the swarm tactics he’s going to face, deftly managing to fend off Rollins and Reigns on the outside while assaulting Ambrose in the ring. But if theres one thing Dean Ambrose is incredibly good at doing it’s absorbing punishment and coming back to tear your face off. The Undertaker knew he was up against some pretty unstable competition and that makes any opponent dangerous. Ambrose held his own and took the punishment before turning the tables and brawling with Taker, eventually hitting his trademark DDT and making the pin, to no avail. The Deadman kicking out and leaving Ambrose frustrated. Dean mocked Takers throat cut motion and found himself locked in to a chokeslam. A Hells Gate later.. and the unthinkable happened. Dean tapped out! But before we freak out about this occurrence, remember there isn’t a single other Superstar on the roster past or present that has survived that deadly hold so he’s in good company at least.

Rollins and Reigns immediately charged the ring and the inevitable beat down began, things tumbling to the outside as Taker fought back, throwing Reigns against the barrier, he caught Rollins around the throat as he went to leap from barricade, only to find himself on the receiving end of a brutal spear by Reigns, crashing right through equipment and barrier, destroying everything.

With Ambrose back on his feet and taunted by ‘You tapped out’ chants from the baying crowd, he grabbed a chair and began to add further damage to the Deadman, battering him with it before setting him up for the Triple Powerbomb through the announce desk. That’s Justice, Deadman. Dean Ambrose is far from beaten, not even close. He’s the future.
