For months, the mysterious Shield triumvirate of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns has disrupted high-profile bouts and waged countless sneak attacks under the pretense of upholding “justice” in WWE. At Elimination Chamber, the brazen upstarts may get their own taste of justice, however, when they face the WWE super team of John Cena, Sheamus & Ryback.

One week after falling victim to The Shield’s numbers game, the Cenation leader recruited Sheamus and Ryback — other prominent Shield victims — and challenged the rebellious trio to a six-man tag just moments after the Feb. 4 edition of Raw went off the air.

Cena promised that at Elimination Chamber, The Shield would finally get a fair fight in the form of WWE’s super trio, whose three members have each had run-ins with the justice-seeking team. The open challenge came on the heels of a seeming groundswell of momentum working against The Shield.

Though largely unchallenged to date, Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns experienced perhaps their biggest setback following an attack on Brad Maddox. The ambush occurred at the invitation of the rogue referee, who challenged The Shield mere seconds after admitting to giving Mr. McMahon the video that revealed the trio’s alleged collusion with Paul Heyman and CM Punk.

While Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns were successful in downing the loudmouth Maddox, thrashing him with a Triple Powerbomb, they ran into trouble once Cena, Ryback and Sheamus — taking a page out of The Shield’s playbook — made a surprise entrance through the WWE Universe. With the help of a slew of WWE fan favorites who blocked The Shield’s exit up the Raw ramp, Cena, Sheamus & Ryback proudly turned back The Shield, sending them packing through the crowd.

The Shield’s first official sanctioned match in WWE, a chaotic Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match against WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No & Ryback in December, left the WWE Universe speechless and bolstered the group’s claims of dominance. But against one of the most impressive assemblies in WWE history, does the treacherous trio have a chance of improving their record to 2-0? Regardless of which team comes out on top Feb. 17, the WWE Universe will assuredly be watching with bated breath.

Imagine, for a moment, a world in which Paul Heyman is an evil mastermind with a crew of blue-chip competitors under his guidance (a shocking notion, we know). Think The Nexus as run by a cult leader instead of a general; a many-armed entity of destruction with a silver-tongued devil and master strategist as its leader.

Of course, wrestling historians will know that this is no mere fever dream or wild speculation, but instead a history lesson in the ways of the Dangerous Alliance. For years Heyman operated with a crew of feverish acolytes that carried out the mastermind’s bidding, capturing championship gold through intimidation and trickery and blazing a trail across sports-entertainment history. The Alliance (so named after Heyman’s original nickname, Paul E. Dangerously) existed in several incarnations and organizations throughout the ’80s and ’90s — permutations of the group peppered the AWA, WCW and ECW — but always seemed to burn out just as fast as they ascended to dominance, with some kind of internal dispute typically tearing the group asunder (for example: The WCW version disbanded when Heyman departed the company; the ECW incarnation fell by the wayside thanks to Tazz sustaining injury and Sabu’s dismissal from The Land of Extreme). Frankly, these dissolutions were a blessing in disguise, as the only thing more ominous to a locker room than the notion of the old Dangerous Alliance is the possibility of its resurrection.

Assaulting two major WWE stars managed to earn the Shield a small push on the Power 25. With neither men capable of fighting back, the united trio reminded those at how powerful they truly are, and earned their new spot at #20 by their presence alone.

The black-clad rogue trio emerges into the top 20 this week after initiating attacks on both Ryback and Randy Orton.

Seemingly in a stagnant position in the eyes of the team, the Shield once more came in at #22 after their chaotic night on the New Year’s Eve edition of Monday night RAW. With the odds seemingly matched between the Shield and the scorned men of the WWE, will the Shield – in future weeks – manage to overcome as they did at TLC, or will they slide off the ladder and disappear from the rankings? We certainly have our opinions. So what do you think?

The below is what had to say:

Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns got their comeuppance on the final Raw of 2012, but they didn’t get their much-anticipated encore bout against Ryback. Will they live to fight again in 2013?

Keeping their faces on television managed to keep the Shield on the Power 25 rankings. Unfortunately not capable of shooting up without a win or a loss and no real impact made during this ranking week – merely a promo on Smackdown – they remained in their spot at #22. Below is what had to say on the subject of the three deadly men:

The trio of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns holds strong in the No. 22 spot. Who will the group focus its sights on in 2013?

Published by Jen, Filed in are up to their list making shenanigans again and this time it’s who we’re to expect big things from in the coming year, like we needed telling Dean Ambrose was about to take the WWE by the balls and twist. But here’s their confirmation, and what they had to say!

The Shield
If you had asked the WWE Universe who Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were in the first 11 months of 2012, there’s a strong chance you’d have gotten a blank stare and a raised eyebrow. Now, of course, it’s a different story. Ever since this triumvirate of NXT Superstars surged into Survivor Series and laid waste to Ryback, “The Shield” has inspired untold unease among the ranks of WWE Superstars, leaving them to wonder who will be next in their crosshairs. Claiming to defend “justice” in a WWE that allegedly lacks it, the trio was hardly shy in choosing its targets: John Cena, Ryback, Randy Orton, Team Hell No, and others who they believe embody a broken system that they swore to change before NXT. With Ambrose as the group’s mouthpiece, Rollins as its daredevil and Reigns as its bruiser, The Shield made its biggest statement yet by defeating Team Hell No & Ryback in a brutal Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match at WWE TLC, ensuring their reign of terror would continue well into 2013. And the scary thing is, they’re just getting warmed up.

Published by Jen, Filed in are counting down the most significant moments of 2012 and of course our boy Dean Ambrose made one of the biggest impacts this year when he made his debut at Survivor Series in the Main Event alongside his Shield Brethren Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Here’s what they had to say!

At Survivor Series 2012, up-and-coming NXT hopefuls Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins appeared from nowhere, interfering in a Triple Threat WWE Title Match between WWE Champion CM Punk and John Cena and Ryback. As Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns Powerbombed Ryback through an announce table, Punk was able to score the three-count on his Cenation adversary. Questions immediately began to circulate as to whether or not they had acted on the outspoken titleholder’s behalf.

Later, the trio explained that they had arrived to correct “injustice” in the WWE, referring to themselves collectively as The Shield. Neither Punk nor the new faction claimed that they were connected.

Over the next few weeks, the rogue attackers assaulted several Superstars, including WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan, Ryback, Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, The Miz and Randy Orton.

Eventually, they would take on and defeat Team Hell No and Ryback in the first-ever Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match at WWE TLC.

Despite their phenomenal victory, the boys only managed to come in at #22, but with time? We can only assure that they’ll shoot further up! The below is what the list makers had to say!

Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns defeated Ryback & Tag Team Champions Team Hell No in an epic Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match Sunday, and catapult into the top 25.

Rounding out both teams are perhaps the match’s most unpredictable competitors, the volatile Kane and the seemingly unhinged Dean Ambrose. Though Kane’s tumultuous personal history is well-documented, far less is known about Ambrose. Just a taste of his tenure in NXT predecessor Florida Championship Wrestling, however, is more than enough to convince any non-believer that the scraggly-haired Ambrose is capable of eerily vicious outbursts.
