After what transpired on RAW and Main Event this week, The Shield have another message for Randy Orton, Sheamus and Ryback this Friday. Things are heating up and with the Royal Rumble coming up tensions are high, but will this all lead to a full showdown between the six? We can only hope!
After The Shield were sent packing on RAW by Randy Orton, Sheamus and Ryback, tonight on Main Event they exacted a little brutal revenge, interrupting a match between Orton and Antonio Cesaro, they surrounded the ring only for The Miz (who was on commentary) to attempt to intervene – what a stupid thing to do. The Shield were undeterred and rushed the ring, easily taking out The Miz Reigns hit him with a brutal spear, then Ambrose and Rollins set up Orton for the deadly Triple Powerbomb. I think the message is received loud and clear!
The Shields vendetta against Randy Orton continued this week as Orton appeared to be getting the better of United States Champion Antonio Cesaro. As Orton was gearing up for the RKO, Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns charged the ring and began a vicious beat down, ending in their now trademark Triple Powerbomb. Standing over Ortons fallen body after exacting revenge for RAW last week. Is this the start of their road to Wrestlemania?
Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns were on hand for their Shield brother as Seth Rollins took on Big E Langston for the NXT Championship, a title so far only Rollins has had the honor of holding. As Langston seemed to be dominating Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns made their presence felt, attacking Langston on the outside and sending him crashing into the steel steps before beating him down and helping Rollins back to his feet. Rollins went on to control the match up for a time, working Langston down with submissions while Ambrose and Reigns looked on. However the powerhouse was able to overcome Rollins’ ground work and soon was on the offensive again, prompting Reigns and Ambrose back into action, charging the ring and beating him down. But this time the NXT Locker Room retaliated, coming down to tear Ambrose and Reigns away from the challenger, chasing them clear out of the building! Leaving Rollins along to face Big E. Despite valiant effort, Langstons power overcame, and NXT gained itself a new Champion.
NXT opened rather abruptly this week as the first match is swiftly interrupted by The Shield beating the two youngsters down quite savagely, before Ambrose gets on the mic and unleashes a little verbal fury. Declaring The Shield have made more of an impact faster than any other group in the history of the business, and all in the name of justice! Rollins takes over and informs Dusty Rhodes that they’ve taken over RAW, Smackdown and now NXT, and theres not a thing anybody can do to stop them. Dusty however, begs to differ and shows his disappointment in Rollins for choosing such a dark path. That being the case, Rollins will defend his NXT Championship against Cory Graves later in the night. Ambrose takes the mic back and sternly tells Dusty nobody tells The Shield what to do, but Dusty fires back telling him he’s in his house now, and Rollins will defend the title or be stripped of it.
During Rollins’ match against Graves later on in the night, Graves seemed to have the advantage, locking Rollins up in a nasty submission. But of course, Ambrose and Reigns are never far away and rush the ring, saving Rollins from losing the title as he’s disqualified. The Shield begin a beatdown on Graves until Dusty emerges, bringing with him the entire NXT Roster! You’d think that would be enough to put The Shield down but to Dusty’s dismay, Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns make short work of everybody and once again stand alone in the ring! As they pace and taunt the crowd, seemingly unstoppable, theres one last face to make an appearance. Big E Langston! This appears to be the Ace up the sleeve of Rhodes as The Shield… for some unfathomable reason… back away! So they can take on a whole locker room of men and arent afraid of Ryback, but Big E Langston is just too much? Okay then. Well, whatever. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns back away from the big man and leave the ring.. and its announced next week Rollins will defend the title against Big E! Reigns is none too pleased with this, but as he tries to confront Big E, Ambrose pulls him back, no doubt with other plans in mind. The Shield retreat and NXT goes off air.
The Shield interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you this public service announcement. They’re pissed off, and things are only going to get worse. Next week they’re taking their brand of Justice back to their roots at NXT, to right a few wrongs and for Seth Rollins to take care of Corey Graves and his idle threats. For Dean Ambrose, this isn’t a time of cheer and thanks, it’s a time of injustice (you’re telling me, my Christmas day SUCKED). The worlds an unfair and brutal place, get used to it. In the words of the man himself, happy new year.
Early in the show we’re taken to another pre recorded message from The Shield in which they lay out their intent for the night, declaring Ryback reckless and dangerous for injuring CM Punk. It’s an injustice that Punk cannot defend his title at the Pay Per View and therefor, they’re going to ‘Feed’ Ryback more than he can handle tonight. They go on to call Team Hell No an insult to Tag Teams. That Tag Teams dont bicker and fall out and argue, but support each other and work together. They’re going to show them how its done. And it isnt just that these individuals have committed crimes against wrestling.. they just plain dont like them. It’s going to be a long night!
The match ended up not being the Main Event as it was billed, but what a match it was! Dolph Ziggler says he’s always the one to steal the show but he doesnt stand a chance tonight. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns showed off a unique entrance by coming in through the crowd to a rather ominous theme, and they didnt even get to hit the ring before the action was underway. Kane, Ryback and Daniel Bryan attacking as they hopped the barrier. Ambrose tied up with Ryback and soon ended up in the ring where he displayed a good dose of his utter fearlessness, standing up to Ryback with a grin on his face. Though he wasnt grinning for long as the animal overpowered him. Here’s where my review stops, because honestly at this point this match spiraled into such a display of complete awesomeness it’s impossible to detail it all without a replay right in front of me or a team of twelve writers to remember every single spot. So I’ll just say this. This match alone was worth the price I paid to watch this Pay Per View, and if you havent seen it you’re missing out on… yes, I’ll say it… match of the year.
Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns ushered in a new era in the WWE with a display of complete brutality and mayhem. Seeing Daniel Bryan finally get to step up against Ambrose and Rollins is the stuff of indie fan mark out heaven. From one crazy moment to another – suplexing Bryan off the precariously balanced table, to Kane getting utterly annihilated in the barrier, to Seth Rollins almost killing himself coming off a ladder thanks to Ryback, to Rollins and Ambrose securing the win for The Shield over Daniel Bryan – this match delivered on every level, from everybody. So SEE IT.
The Shield delivered on their promise to make history with this win. This makes me excited for the future. Thanks guys!
Hot on the heels of Randy Orton declaring The Shield had made a big mistake targeting him, it seems they preempted him and cut him off at the pass, quite literally! Attacking Randy moments before he was due to give a backstage interview, the trio beat him down and left him a broken mess amongst the remains of a table. It was later on revealed that Randy had suffered a separated shoulder and a concussion thanks to The Shields actions. Let that be a lesson, never threaten Dean Ambrose!
Later on in the night as Team Hell No joined in on Miz TV, The Shield again interrupted on the Titantron with a message from backstage, telling them their empty threats meant nothing and if they wanted to find out what happened when you threatened The Shield, they should just go and ask Randy Orton! Going on to inform Team Hell No they were some of the biggest perpetrators of injustice in the WWE and were to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. In 48 Hours, at TLC, justice will be served. Of course, Kane says ‘Why wait till Sunday?’.. dangerous gauntlet to lay down. Reigns says that’s finally something they can agree on, Ambrose leaves things on a vicious looking smirk and the cameras put down.
Team Hell No are left in the ring with the threat of The Shield hanging over them and it doesn’t take long for them to make their presence felt! Gathered at the Sky box they stand over the duo until splitting up and heading down through the crowd. Only for Ryback to make his miserable appearance (cant stand that guy), stopping Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns in their tracks. Ryback joins Kane and Daniel Bryan in the ring and hollers the only three words he was taught as a child. Reigns and Rollins back up, while Ambrose cracks his knuckles and tells them ‘See you Sunday’… phew. Getting a little tense in here boys!
The Shield continued to make an impact on Smackdown this week in the wake of news that CM Punk was injured and out of the running for the TLC Pay Per View. With a new match announced, Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns set their sights on one of their TLC opponents, Daniel Bryan, after his match against the Big Show. After Show picked up the victory, The Shield attacked in true pack of dogs style and beat down Bryan viciously until his partner Kane came for the save. However Kane was also quickly subdued by the trio and hauled out of the ring to be powerbombed through the announce table… that’s what you get for trying to be a good friend! Now stay down!
Later on in the night we were taken to pre recorded footage and a message sent in by The Shield themselves, it’s one that has to be seen for yourself as no words I can write will do justice. You can watch it in the video above. Suffice to say, these three mean business and at TLC, Ryback, Bryan and Kane can bring all the A Game they like. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns have something to prove.
Michael Cole conducted an interview ‘earlier in the day’ with the NX3 trio and was almost instantly cut off by Dean Ambrose as he proceeded with his questions. Dean simply telling him to just spit it out if he had a question. Cole nervously obeyed the instruction and asked if the three of them were here to defend Punk, he was met with an abrupt ‘No’ from Dean, before Seth Rollins took over and began to explain that the three of them had sat down in NXT and watched the WWE become a popularity contest, that true talent was being bypassed in favor of whoever the WWE Universe cheered for and that this was injust. Ambrose continued, explaining that they saw the fact that CM Punk had been forced to defend his WWE Championship against two men he’d already defeated, as an injustice. In this day and age a 365 day Title reign is one massive accomplishment and should be celebrated, had that accolade been Rybacks’s, they would have jumped in in his defense instead.
In short, they’ve arrived in the WWE to right the injustices that they see in the WWE. Declaring themselves to be ‘The Shield’. Reigns put an end to the interview shortly thereafter, the trio leaving Michael Cole duly intimidated.
During the Main Event between CM Punk and Kane, The Shield arrived at ringside and circled the ring, waiting for the match to finish. With CM Punk victorious, Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns entered the ring and for a moment seemed like they may go after Punk, before suddenly and viciously turning their attention to Kane, issuing another brutal beatdown. Daniel Bryan ran in for the save but was caught almost immediately by the trio and issues the same punishment. As The Shield dominated, Ryback made his presence felt and for a handful of moments got the better of the threesome, however with the numbers game and a little help from CM Punk, Ambrose and co were soon delivering yet another brutal powerbomb to Ryback, leaving him down and out in the ring. Punk stood tall over the wrecking machine, while The Shield gloated over their handywork. Not in allegiance with Punk? Hmmm.
WWE.com has obtained exclusive footage showing another attack perpetrated by NXT upstarts Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, this time at a Grand Rapids TV taping Tuesday night.
A match pitting Santino Marella against Tyson Kidd was suddenly interrupted by the mysterious trio, marking the third consecutive night Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns wreaked havoc on unsuspecting WWE Superstars following back-to-back assaults on Ryback.
Spilling into the ring donning their now-familiar black garb, the three-man crew attacked Marella and Kidd from behind, tossed Santino out of the ring and executed a vicious three-man powerbomb on Kidd. Making their exit, the NXT competitors added final insult to the fallen Marella, literally kicking The Milan Miracle when he was down.
This shocking assault comes in the wake of previous attacks on Ryback Sunday night at Survivor Series and again last night on Raw. Motives remain unknown, and speculation is running rampant throughout the WWE Universe and the locker room as to what these attacks might mean, and to what extent the trio may go next time.
For now, though, Superstars will just have to wonder when they may strike again.
