After the shocking turn of events on RAW as The Shield finally turned their backs on the Authority and made a stand for themselves, they were mysteriously handed an opportunity at a Tag Team Championship shot on Smackdown. Hmm. Nevertheless, Ambrose and Rollins took to the ring in this Fatal 4 Way Tag Match with Roman on the outside and the typical mayhem ensued. Ambrose starting things out, he started off strong and in control but pretty soon the other three teems mysteriously seemed to be working together simply to isolate him from his tag partner, leading Dean to a relentless assault from everybody involved. He was however, after a desperation move, able to tag out to Rollins who once again came in strong and cleared house – but something was definitely up with those other three teams. A strange sort of unity that once again led to Rollins being isolated and Ambrose having to come in for the save. Reigns made his move as Heath Slater tried to get involved, spearing him down as chaos broke out and the match was called off. Then Kane arrived, viciously attacking Roman and dragging him up the ramp, while all three opposing teams grouped up and began a beat down on Rollins and Ambrose.

On the ramp, the New Age Outlaws arrived to assist Kane in his destruction of Roman, while in the ring Rollins and Ambrose were left at the mercy of the Real Americans, 3MB and Rybaxel (what a ridiculous name!). In the first ever true beat down handed to The Shield, Kane and the Outlaws eventually dragged Roman down to the ring to join his brothers. Ambrose chokeslammed, the boys lay flat out in the ring, well and truly beaten.

Later on in the night, the three treacherous teams were congratulated by Kane, all receiving benefits of sorts. It seems The Shield have become expendable in the eyes of the Authority. Things are about to get interesting.

The Shield are loitering backstage on Monday Night RAW when almost inevitably they’re confronted by Kane about their actions on Friday night. However, Kane seems more forgiving than his usual self and tells them their actions were regrettable and could have bad ramifications, to which Ambrose quietly responds, “Yeah, for you.” – Ooh, shots fired. Kane however dismisses this too and tells the trio the Authority has given them a mission and he needs them to co-operate, reminding them that if he can’t get along with them that means the Authority can’t get along with them. And if the Authority can’t count on them, well, they cease being an asset and become expendable. After a moments deliberation Rollins confirms they’re united and they’ll do whats best for business. Roman adds his trademark ‘Believe that’ and Kane smirks it off, telling them he believes they’ll do whats right or they’ll find out just how replaceable they are. With that Kane takes his leave, Ambrose throwing up a sarcastic thumbs up behind his back as the scene fades out.

Later on in the night Kane comes to the ring and addresses last weeks episode with Daniel Bryan and his ‘Occupy RAW’ movement. He and the Authority blame one Jerry Lawler for the cops not doing anything to stop the invasion of the ring, being as it was his home town. This means he’s in for some dire consequences – and out come The Shield.

Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns surround the announce table and Ambrose gets in Lawlers face, demanding he get up and get in to the ring to face what’s coming to him. Under such pressure, Jerry does as he’s ordered to do and reluctantly removes his headset. He’s guided to the ring by Ambrose and Reigns and escorted up the steps. Once inside, The Shield corner Jerry as Kane removes his suit jacket and tells him he’s not going to enjoy this.. much. Rollins produces a mic from one of his many pockets and tells Jerry not to worry, Daniel Bryan isn’t coming to save him, because The Shield always do what’s best for business. With that said, all three members of The Shield turn away from Lawler, and fix their sights on Kane.

Gasp! It finally happened. To a roar of cheer from the crowd The Shield circle Kane and as he asks what they’re doing, Ambrose ominously states “I think you know what we’re doing.” Kane gets in Romans face and tells them they don’t have enough experience in the business to make this decision, but that doesn’t stop them. The Hounds of Justice unleashing a savage mauling that ends with Kane on the receiving end of a Triple Powerbomb. Are The Shield finally fighting for the forces of good? Or just themselves? With Lawler a huge crowd favorite, it’s a definite check in the ‘Good Guy’ column. But is it wise to anger a big red monster?

Triple H started out the show with an angry tirade against Daniel Bryan and the ‘Yes Movement’ that dominated a good portion of the past RAW. By way of punishment, he calls out one of the men involved – Damien Sandow – and pits him against a member of The Shield. The united trio arriving ringside to hash out who will face him, it’s Rollins that gets the honors while Ambrose and Reigns watch on at ringside. While they don’t get involved, they’re there to taunt Sandow mercilessly as Rollins makes swift work of him. As they stand over Sandows fallen body after Rollins picks up the win, they’re about to bump fists when Dean gets a further idea. Slipping out of the ring he grabs Sandow and tosses him back in, an oldschool Shield beatdown taking place, ending in a Triple Powerbomb. NOW they can stand victorious.

Later on in the night The Shield are summoned to Kane’s office again and congratulated on their performance on RAW and Dean on his title defense on Main Event. Dean remains incredulous and asks if he really expected anything different, and why Kane’s even worried about them right now when he has a match against The Big Show later on. Kane tells them they have a lot to learn about the business but tonight he’s going to teach by example and destroy Big Show, and he orders them to be at ringside to see how to properly handle a situation. If they’re lucky, he might leave them some scraps. The Shield are amused, Rollins calling his bluff and saying he really wants them out there to protect him. Reigns reminds him The Shield don’t take orders from him.

Rollins says when push comes to shove The Shield always does what’s best for business. Believe that.

As Kane heads to his match later on he finds The Shield loitering in the hallway and orders them out to ringside. They look less than pleased but follow. However they’re late to ringside as the match gets underway, and watch on as Kane and Big Show go at it, but they don’t get involved. Eventually a frustrated Kane orders Rollins to attack, the trio briefly get up on the apron but after further orders are given by Kane, Rollins calls off the attack. The Shield back off and Kane’s left to receive a chokeslam from Big Show and lose the match.

Amused, The Shield take their leave, only for Kane to reach over the ropes and grab Rollins by the hair, hauling him in to the ring and threatening a chokeslam of his own. Rollins is saved by Reigns and a devastating Spear. Ambrose reminds Kane yet again they don’t take orders from him and to a surprising amount of crowd cheer, The Shield leave, defiant as ever.

After Rollins and Reigns defeated their demons last night in the form of the Rhodes brothers, Ambrose marched in to a title defense against Mark Henry for a second time. His prior defense was marred by the interference of Rollins. Tonight, he set out to prove he could do this on his own – and he did. With Rollins and Reigns at Ringside Ambrose got off to a slow start as Henry manhandled him around the ring, leading to a handful of time outs and encouraging words from his team mates. However as wily and cunning as he is, he soon found a way around the powerhouse by taking out his legs. Working Henrys left knee over on the mat, he kept the big man grounded with a vicious, relentless assault.

Henry made a brief comeback when he all but hurled Dean out of the ring, but again Ambrose turned that to his advantage, knocking Henry to the floor and jumping on his back, cutting him down once again. Mark struggled back to his feet and knocked Dean down, setting him up for a splash in the corner, but a brief distraction from Reigns allowed Ambrose to move out of harms way and drag Henry down to the mat. Hitting him with his Headlock Driver seconds later, Dean pulled off the three count and the successful title defense.

A good week for The Shield!
