A dramatic night for Dean that started out with Curt Hawkins issuing Dean a challenge that he all but bulldozed through, laying Hawkins out and then taking to the mic to taunt Baron Corbin. He wants him to come fight like a man, instead of hide. Baron once again appears via Titantron and says he’s going to take everything from Dean, mostly his title. Dean decides he’s had enough of waiting around for Corbin to make a move and is going to hunt him down. So he heads backstage and stalks the halls in search of the Lone Wolf. He finds him, when Baron hurls a security guard at him from the shadows, then attacks Dean with a iron bar, striking him in the legs and ribs. Dean takes his lumps and even offers a witty comeback, which further annoys Corbin who drags him over to a forklift and pins him with it, prompting security to come to Dean’s rescue.

Ouch. Dean was taken to a medical facility but according to WWE.com escaped the ambulance and headed back to the arena, where he jumped Corbin in the ring once Smackdown had gone off air. All you’re doing is making him angrier, Corbin! Here’s what WWE.com had to say!

After quickly taking out Curt Hawkins for the second week in a row, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose ponied up on once again calling out Baron Corbin, as well. Much like he did last week, Corbin appeared via the TitanTron to answer Ambrose’s challenge.

The Lone Wolf reiterated that he would square off with Ambrose on his own terms, incensing The Lunatic Fringe and prompting him to go looking for Corbin … but not before having Hawkins face the facts of a second Dirty Deeds on the outside.

Ambrose’s search for Corbin would take an unexpected twist, however, when The Lone Wolf blindsided the unstable Intercontinental Champion backstage. Ambrose attempted to fight back, but the element of surprise allowed Corbin to get the advantage, leaving The Lunatic Fringe laying and crushing him with a forklift.

WWE.com Update on Deans Condition

INDIANAPOLIS – Following an attack by Baron Corbin during tonight’s SmackDown LIVE, Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose was taken to a local medical facility with bruised and potentially broken ribs.

UPDATE (10:15 p.m. ET): While en route to the medical facility, Ambrose reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and started heading back to the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on foot. Stay with WWE.com for more on this developing story.

WWE’s Dean Ambrose and Renee Young: Power Couple
The Las Vegas residents and World Wrestling Entertainment stars square off on the realities of life inside and outside the ring
By David G. Schwartz

Six years ago, Ambrose was getting forks jammed into his forehead until he was streaming blood and powerbombed on thumbtacks in front of a few hundred fans. This year, he won the business’ biggest prize in front of 19,000 Las Vegas fans and hundreds of thousands watching on the WWE Network. But what probably means more to him is that the intensely private Ambrose snared something even more valuable: a rewarding life and someone to share it with.

Ambrose and Young talked with Vegas Seven about what he does and why he does it, with Young sharing her own perspective.

What’s it like being where you are now?

Dean Ambrose:
I made a pretty good name for myself before I got here—hustling and working every single possible indie promotion and all over the world for years, and through YouTube, creating the biggest buzz I could for myself. I figured then that WWE wasn’t something I was destined for; I was gonna be a little cult hero in my own little niche. And at the time, I was totally happy with that, even though I always knew in the back of my mind that I wanted to be over there. So I think it’s a cop-out when you go, “Oh, well, I don’t wanna go there.”

Back then, nothing came of it materially, but I felt like I was as good as anybody in the world and I’d never get to prove it. Once I got here, it was about climbing the ladder. But that was all just icing on the cake.

By then, I wasn’t seeking validation or approval from anybody. The successes for me aren’t championships or any of that kind of shit. It’s that I get to do what I love and get paid for it, and it’s fun. And we get to do Make-A-Wish, meet kids and be an inspiration to people, and that’s such a blessing. How many people would love to be in that position? I was able to pay my mom’s house off, I have a home for myself, and another bonus was I was able to meet the one woman on planet fuckin’ Earth that could ever put up with me.

I feel like all the stars aligned. I’m one of those “I think the whole universe has a plan” kind of guys. And if you put enough good karma into the can, it’ll come back to you in the end. I feel like I’ve been able to put enough in by doing enough of the right thing …

Renee Young: Your karma can is looking good.

What about people who say wrestling is fake?

Ambrose: We let everybody go behind the scenes and we make no effort anymore as a business to make it seem real. I don’t take myself too seriously. It’s 2017, [and] if you say wrestling’s fake, I’m not gonna flip out or whatever—you’re just uninformed. To me, there’s nothing fake about the miles that I’ve put on my body or the actual work that goes into perfecting this as a craft. I put in the same hours to get good at this as a surgeon who went to college. It’s just a much less important job in the realm of society. But as far as the man-hours you put in, it’s hard to do. And there’s nothing fake about the injuries, the risk and how dangerous this is. It’s extremely dangerous. But I won’t be offended by [the comments]; people say it all the time.

What if you hadn’t become a wrestler?

Ambrose: I have nothing to offer you. I can’t remember a time when wrestling wasn’t the only thing that I thought about or cared about or did or had any intention of doing. But if I would stop wrestling now and had to do something else, I think I can make a hell of a park ranger.

Young: Or a private eye.

Ambrose: I like getting into stuff; I like investigating. I’m a big outdoorsy person who fell in love with Vegas, and I’m huge into mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing. I love being outside. I love being able to see the mountains every day. So to work here … that’s not a bad job. Sit out in Red Rock all day just saying hello to people. That ain’t that bad. I’ve Googled this before, actually. That seems like a decent job, just hanging out in the park, going around, counting flowers, freeing raccoons from traps and stuff.

Young: Check out the flora and the fauna. I think that there’s definitely something to be said that when you don’t have a fallback plan, you have to just do it. It does really require all of your attention to get it off the ground, right?

Ambrose: Having a fallback plan isn’t a bad idea, but if you ain’t got one, fuck it. Just go for it and see what happens. Because if you don’t have one, that probably means you’re so single-minded that you’re gonna have the drive necessary to make it happen for yourself.

Young: You have to make it work.

Ambrose: Because if you’re like, “Well, you know what, my fallback plan is to be a nurse, but I’m gonna take a shot at this wrestling thing.” You won’t have the urgency to really go for it.

Young: It needs your full focus. I read that in a Janis Joplin book one time, and it stood out to me so much when she was saying that she didn’t want to have a fallback plan. I was like, “Oh, yeah, of course.”

Ambrose: I never looked at this as a job or a career until I got to the big-time. Then it was, “Oh, this is how I pay my bills.” Before that, I didn’t really have any bills. Maybe some rent, because I did a lot of couch surfing and being a vagabond; wrestling was just what I did. Now it’s a job because now I actually make money out of it. You gotta have that mentality.

A: Probably not. I actually turned down a book offer this year. I don’t like to talk about myself enough for that I think. Also, the best stories I can’t remember well enough to accurately recall, some stories aren’t mine to tell, plus I wouldn’t wanna throw anyone under the bus not in a position to defend themselves, inadvertently or not.

Which was your favorite scene to film in 12 Rounds 3: lockdown

Whats the best advice you can give to someone just getting started in wrestling?
Sent by Lots of people!
A: Crawl, walk, run. Master the Guerrero rolls. Have fun. Do it for yourself, not anybody else.. Every day, cuz otherwise it wont be fun and you probably wont be making enough money to do something that’s not fun.

If tomorrow was your last day on earth, how would you spend it?
Sent by Jessica (sassy_icajess)
A: Hiking, fishing, having some sex, karaoke and submission wrestling. Logistically that is a difficult day to plan, luckily I could hire an expensive assistant or event planner for one day, cuz i’ll be dead the next.

How do you think things would have turned out if they’d had you turn on The Shield instead of Seth? Would you have preferred it?
Sent by Linda (SkyHighRollins)

If you could go back and relive any one moment, what would it be?
Sent by Jessi Lee
A: The cigarette I had after a terrified doctor recommended orange juice, after nearly bleeding to death in a tournament in Florida. I wrestled Sami Callihan 30 min later!

Site Note: For those wondering, the match was a Full Impact Pro tournament match in 2010, against Arik Cannon. You can view captures Here. Not for the faint hearted!

Would you like to open your own wrestling school or be a trainer at NXT one day?
Sent by Laurie (purple_sneakers)
A: If I had the time to do that I wouldn’t be wrestling, and when I’m out, I wanna be out… that being said something like that’s not out of the question.

Whats your favorite book and do you have any book recommendations?
Sent by Lyzette Austin & Nina Alman
A: “Of Mice and Men”. Favorite when I was a kid and I still like it. Check it out, I’m tellin you. Reading is probably my No.1 hobby these days because its something you can do on the road at anytime, I get through 1 or 2 books a weeks usually. The hunt to get his hands on Baron Corbin continues this week, as Dean tears through Curt Hawkins in a handful of seconds and demands the lone wolf come out and fight him like a man. He says he’s learned a lot of lessons in his lifetime and now its time for Baron to learn a life lesson of his own. Messing with Dean Ambrose is a really, really bad decision. Baron eventually appears, but only from the same distance of the titantron. Attempting to intimidate Dean by saying he’s nothing but a speedbump and he’s going to knock him down, Dean is unphased. Bring it on. He says their fight is far from over.. this should be interesting. Here’s what WWE.com had to say..

Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose was scheduled to square off against Curt Hawkins, but instead immediately slid into the ring and had Hawkins “face the facts” of Dirty Deeds. The Lunatic Fringe then called out Baron Corbin and he got him … kind of. The Lone Wolf appeared on the TitanTron to respond to Ambrose’s cry for a fight. Corbin proclaimed that he would face off with Ambrose, but that it would be on his terms. This led Ambrose to be more than a bit annoyed.

Thickening plots.

Bad blood between Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin just continues to pile up, as a 10 Man Battle Royal to headline Wrestlemania and challenge Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship is announced. Dean discovers one of his opponents is Corbin and says that while you’d think he’d be in a bad mood about the past couple of weeks, he’s fully focused on earning his spot in the Wrestlemania main event. If he happens to be able to break Corbins legs in the process, all the better. Fortunately for Corbin, that doesn’t happen, but Dean does eliminate him from the Battle Royal which leads to Corbin dragging Dean from the ring and hitting him with the End of Days on the outside. Dean isn’t eliminated however, and returns to the ring to fight in the final three against Harper and AJ Styles. It’s an eventual kick from Harper that ends the Mania Main Event dream though, Dean eliminated from the Battle Royal.

He does however still have the shiny Intercontinental Championship to defend on the Grandest stage of them all. Will his opponent be Baron Corbin? It’s a feud we’d like to see!

As you can see, we have a shiny new layout (if you’re not viewing on our special mobile layout anyway!) and we’ve gone for a theme inspired by last years Backlash poster, chrome and blues. All the features you love still in place, but with some new tweaks here and there. This design was a labor of love between myself and Cristy .. how she puts up with my fickleness I’ll never know.

We hope you love it! More goodies coming as we roam toward our 6 year anniversary!

After James Ellsworth talked himself into a pickle with former friend Dean Ambrose – thanks to urging from his “boo thing” Carmella – Daniel Bryan approved a match between the Intercontinental Champion and the Chinless Superstar.

Though Ellsworth should get credit just for showing up and introducing Carmella to the WWE Universe so nicely, the contest never got underway. Ambrose was seemingly attacked by Baron Corbin backstage and The Lone Wolf dragged him out to the ramp. Ambrose tried to fight back, but Corbin’s strength was too much, ultimately hitting him with the Deep Six through electrical equipment, sending sparks flying. It was Corbin’s second attack of retribution this week for Ambrose eliminating him from Sunday’s Elimination Chamber Match.

Dean’s dreams of becoming a double champion in the WWE were dashed tonight after he eliminated Baron Corbin from the Elimination Chamber. Corbin launched in to a vicious rage aimed at Ambrose and Dean was beaten quite literally from pillar to post, as Baron sent him smashing through one of the Chamber pods. After Corbin finished his rampage, Miz picked the bones and pinned Dean, eliminating him from the match. Corbin.. you just made a very dangerous list.

Bray Wyatt def. John Cena, The Miz, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose in an Elimination Chamber Match to win the WWE Championship
Bray Wyatt stunned the WWE Universe at Elimination Chamber 2017, decimating the competition inside the unforgiving structure to capture the WWE Championship and set up a possible Wyatt Family showdown for the title at WrestleMania with Randy Orton.

The punishing battle inside the all-new Elimination Chamber began with a Royal Rumble rematch of sorts, as AJ Styles squared off with reigning champion John Cena. The 16-time champion had a slight advantage over The Phenomenal One, having fought inside the brutal structure before. However, Styles showed no fear inside the Chamber, going right after The Champ.

Cena had the upper hand as the first five-minute period expired and the first randomly selected pod was opened, sending Dean Ambrose into the fracas. The Lunatic Fringe wasted no time in using the Chamber to his advantage, slamming Styles into the unforgiving floor, then scaling the pod he escaped from, only to dive off and come crashing down onto the WWE Champion.

The New Face of Fear was next to enter the chaotic Chamber, and he unleashed his brand of carnage immediately, hurling Styles into the cold steel chains that make up the structure. The Phenomenal One recovered and scaled the chains alongside Cena, eventually sending Cena careening to the Chamber floor. Styles’ high-altitude warfare continued atop one of the pods, where Ambrose introduced him face-first to the Lexan glass.

Corbin, as the fifth competitor summoned into the battle, went right after Ambrose, planting the Intercontinental Champion into the canvas with the Deep Six. He then slammed Wyatt into The Miz’s pod and brazenly told The Eater of Worlds “I don’t fear you.”. Fear of the Chamber was also not a factor for Corbin, who connected with End of Days on Cena and hurled Ambrose into the chains.

The Lone Wolf stood standing among the carnage, staring down a visibly unnerved Miz as The A-Lister’s pod slid open. Unfortunately, the young Superstar took his eyes off Ambrose, who rolled Corbin up to send him packing. That did not sit well with Corbin, who brutally tossed Ambrose through the Lexan glass and planted him into the mat with End of Days. The Miz quickly seized the opportunity, finally scrambling out of his pod to pin The Lunatic Fringe and whittle the field down to four.

When SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan returned to his home state faithful in Washington for the first time since announcing his in-ring retirement, he brought the WWE Universe into a frenzy … until The Miz interrupted.

However, before The Miz and Bryan could get knee deep into one of their usual heated exchanges, Baron Corbin cut them both off, which led to he and A-Lister exchanging words after their run-in last week. While Corbin wanted to talk about the past, though, Miz instead looked to get The Lone Wolf on his side in advance of their participation in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match this Sunday.

Corbin did not seem interested though and before the matter could be settled, fellow Chamber competitors Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles each decided to join the party. As the situation grew more intense, Bryan, decided to create an impromptu Fatal 4-Way Match for them!

At the order of SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, Elimination Chamber participants Dean Ambrose, The Miz, AJ Styles and Baron Corbin laid it all on the line in a Fatal 4-Way Match in the first match of the show. The action was nonstop with all four Superstars looking like they had victory sewed up at points. However, in the end it was The Lone Wolf who was able to gain some momentum heading into Sunday’s Elimination Chamber, defeating AJ Styles with the End of Days for the major win.
